Description
Number 100 and the attached gateway is a lodge that has been converted into a house, dating from the mid-19th century. It features a painted stone moulded plinth and is covered in painted lined render, likely applied over brick. The roof is made of Welsh slate and is half-hipped on the left side, with a brick stack on the right. The building is designed in a picturesque style and is two stories tall with a single-window range. To the left, there is a four-panel ribbed and studded door with a hood mould, while to the right, there is a 20th-century casement window in the original opening, also with a hood mould. On the first floor to the right, there is a three-light casement window featuring Gothick glazing bars, a hood mould, and a gable that creates a false dormer. The eaves are concave moulded. The interior has not been inspected.
The attached gateway consists of ribbed and studded wooden carriage gates set between battlemented octagonal stone piers. Flanking the carriage gates are Tudor-arched pedestrian gates, also made of ribbed and studded wood, with hood moulds. This gateway served as the former entrance to the Castle grounds and is included for its group value.
