Description
No 4 High Street is a house that now operates as a house and restaurant. It likely dates from the mid-17th century, with a shop front added in the 19th century. The building features a rendered exterior, probably over timber framing, and has an old plain-tile roof with a brick ridge stack located to the left of the center.
The structure is two stories high and has a three-window range. To the left, there is a six-panel door framed by painted wood architrave and topped with a gabled hood supported by brackets. The center and right sections have a 19th-century shop front, with a 20th-century door in the middle. The first floor has three 12-pane horned sash windows. The roof is cross-gabled on the right return.
On the right return, the 19th-century shop front continues on the ground floor to the left, with a horizontal sliding sash window to the right and two two-light 20th-century casements in the cross-gables. The interior has not been inspected.
