BECKLEY AND STOWOOD HIGH STREET SP51SE (North side) Beckley 2/36 The Abingdon Aris Public House

GV II

Public house. Early C18. Coursed squared limestone rubble with ashlar dressings; old plain-tile roof with stone and brick gable stacks. 2-unit plan. 2 storeys. 5-window front has, to right of centre, a symmetrical arrangement of doors and tall casements, all with stone flat arches. Door is now concealed by C19 tiled porch, and windows immediately flanking are blocked. Stone chimney, projects from right gable with weathered offsets. Lower range extends to left. Small rear wing. Interior: Chamfered and stopped cross beams.
