Description

Shipley Cottage is a small house dating from the late 17th century to the early 18th century. It is built of limestone rubble with timber lintels and some brick quoins, topped with a concrete plain-tile roof featuring stone and brick gable stacks. The house has a two-unit plan and is one storey plus attics. The front has two windows and a door located to the right of center, positioned between two-light casements with irregular brick quoins. There are two 20th-century gabled dormers. A stack with a stone base is located to the left, and there is a small gable outshut to the left with brick quoins. The right gable shows traces of a lower roof line. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage is included for its group value.
