Description
This is a house located at 1 Church Street in Beckley, dating from the late 17th century and remodelled in the late 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed from limestone rubble with timber lintels and some brick dressings, topped with an old plain-tile roof and featuring brick gable stacks. The building has an L-plan and stands two storeys tall. The front facade has two windows and a two-panel door with a heavy frame and a canopy supported by shaped brackets, positioned to the left of centre, flanked by three-light leaded casements. The first-floor windows are accented with brick quoins, segmental arches, and leaded lights. The gable walls indicate an earlier roofline, and there is a short rear wing to the left. The interior has not been inspected.
