Description
St Mary's Cottage is an early 19th-century building that was originally part of a row of cottages and is now a house. It is constructed from limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features an old plain-tile roof with brick stacks. The structure is a single range, likely consisting of three two-unit cottages, and stands two storeys high. The six-window front includes segmental-arched doorways located in the center and at both the extreme left and right ends, along with three original and two inserted two-light stone-mullioned windows. There are six similar windows on the first floor, all of which have old leaded lights. The roof has a shallow pitch with stacks positioned near the left and right ends. Inside, the cottage features sawn and bolted queen-post trusses, showcasing an early and convincing reuse of a traditional style.
