Description
The Right Entrance Lodge, located approximately 45 meters southeast of Rycotewood College, is a lodge built around 1835 by George Wilkinson. It features an uncoursed stone rubble base and red brick walls, topped with a slate pyramidal roof that has lead ridges. The lodge has an octagonal single-cell plan and is a single storey in height.
The entrance consists of a plank door with a cambered brick head on the angled side facing the college building. There is an 8-pane window with a cambered brick head set in a recess on the side facing the driveway, which includes a dentil course at the top of the recess. Another 8-pane window with a cambered brick head is located on the side facing the college building. The eaves are decorated with a flat stone string-course and a dentil brick course. The roof is octagonal and pyramidal, featuring a ball finial at the top.
The interior has not been inspected. This lodge is one of a pair serving the college buildings, which were formerly a workhouse.
