Description
Thatcher's Hotel and Restaurant is a house that has been converted into a hotel and restaurant. It dates back to the 16th century, with a 17th-century addition on the right and later alterations. The building features irregular timber framing, some close studding, and rendered infill. The ground floor on the right is made of painted coursed stone rubble with brick dressings. The roof is thatched in the center and on the right, while the left side has an old plain-tile roof. There is a brick ridge stack located to the right of the center.
The building is single storey with an attic and has a four-window range. There are 20th-century panelled part-glazed doors at the center and to the left of the center. The windows are arranged irregularly and consist of 2-light wood casements, except for a 20th-century shop window on the left that has glazing bars. There are three swept dormers on the center and right, each with 2-light leaded casements, and a gabled dormer on the left with a 3-light leaded casement. Inside, there are two cruck trusses.
