Description

The Royal Airforce Benson and Wallingford Boat Clubs consist of a row of houses and a malthouse that has been converted into a boat club. This building dates from the mid-18th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. It is constructed of red brick with flared brick headers in Flemish bond and features an old plain-tile roof. The structure has a central brick stack and a ridge stack located to the left of the center.

The building is single storey with an attic and presents a six-window range with a four-bay center flanked by cross-wings. There is a six-panel part-glazed door to the left of the left cross-wing, which is sheltered by an open timber-framed gabled porch. To the left of center, there is another six-panel part-glazed door with an open wood lattice porch. A six-panel door to the right of center has an open 20th-century timber-framed porch, while 20th-century double plank doors are situated to the right of center.

The left cross-wing features a nine-pane unhorned sash window, while the center has two-light wood casements with segmental brick heads. The right cross-wing contains three single-light 20th-century casements. There are four gabled dormers in the center, each with two-light casements. The left cross-wing has a half-hipped gable end with a ?-pane unhorned sash, and the right cross-wing has a half-hipped gable end with a two-light casement and a segmental brick head. The interior has not been inspected. The right cross-wing is part of the former malthouse range and features a louvred vent at the ridge.
