Description

These are two mid-19th century buildings on the south side of the Market Place. The facades are stuccoed with a slate roof finished with crested tiling, and feature machicolated eaves. A string course runs above the ground floor and a dentil cornice above the first floor. The buildings are three storeys high with two windows. The top floor has two canted sash windows. The first floor has two sashes; one of three lights, forming a canted bay with round arched lights, and the other with a central round arched light. The ground floor contains a shop on the eastern side, with a band surround and horizontal, paired console ornament above the shop front. A central doorway is topped with a pediment. A carriage arch is situated on the western side. These buildings form a group with numbers 35 to 63 (odd), the buildings behind number 37, the Town Hall, numbers 50 and 52, and numbers 62 to 66 (even).
