Description

The northern section of a wall, located approximately 8 meters east of the Great House in Great Milton, dates from the 18th to 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone rubble and ashlar, standing about 2.2 meters high with flat stone coping. Adjacent to a pedestrian entrance opposite the main door of the Great House is a plain ashlar gatepier, which is about 2.5 meters high and has a flat cap. This wall and gatepier are significant as they contribute to the relationship between the Great House and The Church of St. Mary, thus holding group value.
