Description
Copsestile Farmhouse is probably of the late 17th century, with alterations in the 19th century. It is a red-brick farmhouse with a roof of old plain tiles and brick end stacks. The building is two storeys and an attic, with a seven-window range to the rear. A central door has a flat hood supported by deeply carved wooden brackets. The ground floor has twelve-pane sashes, and a shaped brick band separates the ground and first floors. The first floor has seven bordered sashes with rendered flat heads and keystones. Angled brick quoins mark the left and right sides of the building. A dentil cornice runs along the eaves. There are three gabled dormers with two-light, leaded wood casements.
Inside, the hall floor has stone flags. A late 17th-century staircase has a straight flight with a winder and a turned balustrade. The dining room on the ground floor’s left rear features late 17th-century fielded panelling. Many doors retain original "H" and "HL" hinges.
