Description
This icehouse, located approximately 140 meters southwest of The Rectory in Nuneham Courtenay, dates from the late 18th century. It is built of brick and has a circular plan. The structure features a brick dome with an arched entrance that was once part of a tunnel. Inside, there is a large egg-shaped space that is about 6 meters high and tapers towards the base. The icehouse is situated on a prominent spur of land. Nuneham Park, where the icehouse is located, is recognized in the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission County Register of Gardens at Grade I.
