Description

This is a row of terraced houses at 5-11 Friday Street, dating from the early 19th century. The front facade is stuccoed and features an old tiled roof, although number 7 has been retiled. The buildings are two storeys high with gabled dormers, each containing one window, which are mostly sash windows with late 19th-century glazing. A decorative band runs along the facade at the level of the first-floor window sills. Number 5 has a modern, double-fronted shop. Number 7 has an altered 19th-century shop front, with glazing bars in the window but a missing surround. Number 9 has a door with a flat, bracketed hood. The buildings are listed at Grade II for group value, forming a significant group with other properties including Old Timbers, Friday Cottage, number 73, numbers 4 and 6, number 10, numbers 14, 14A and 16, numbers 54 and 56, The Anchor Hotel, Baltic Cottage and Baltic House Thameside, all situated opposite.
