Description
The medieval cross and war memorial in Cuddesdon is made of Wheatley stone and features the lower part of a medieval cross shaft set on a square, four-stepped base. The lowest step includes some stonework from 1857, which contains two stones with the remaining part of an inscription that reads JESUS CHRIST +.
Attached to the base is a bronze plaque that lists the names of men from the village and some students from Cuddesdon College who died while serving in the military. The plaque is dedicated "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND TO HONOUR THOSE OF THIS VILLAGE/ AND OF CUDDESDON COLLEGE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE WORLD WARS/ THIS CROSS WAS RESTORED IN 2015/ (NAMES)."
