Description
This outbuilding, located approximately 10 meters behind Manor Farmhouse, dates from the 16th to early 17th century. It features a timber frame with wattle and daub infill, limestone rubble, and brick, topped with an old plain-tile roof that has a brick gable stack. The building has a two-bay plan and is one storey high. The left bay of the front has a plank door with a cambered head, while the right bay is framed only above cill height and includes two adjoining unglazed windows of unequal heights with diamond mullions. The right gable wall is constructed of stone and brick and has an inserted stack. The rear wall has been partly rebuilt in brick but retains a wood mullion window. Inside, there is a Queen-post truss and two rows of clasped purlins with straight windbraces. The left gable frame remains internally, although the wall now opens into a 20th-century farm building. This outbuilding is noted as part of the mansion that was rebuilt in the early 16th century by Sir John Clerke and was largely demolished in the early 19th century.
