Description

The Old Farmhouse is a mid-18th century and 18th-19th century farmhouse, now a house. It is constructed of limestone rubble with brick dressings, and has an old plain-tile roof. The building follows a T-plan layout. The main range is of Flemish-bond brickwork, featuring flared headers and a storey band. It has two segmental-arched, two-light casement windows, with gabled dormers above, and a door on the extreme right. A projecting cross wing to the right is of rubble with brick dressings and incorporates pairs of two-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors, alongside a small gable light beneath a half-hip. A 20th-century extension is located on the right side. Internally, there is a through passage behind a stack. The beams retain ogee chamfer stops, and fragments of timber-framed partitions remain. The roof is a clasped-purlin design. This building is recognised for its group value.
