Description
The South Cemetery Chapel is a cemetery chapel built around 1860, featuring flint construction with ashlar bands and dressings. The roof is made of plain and lozenge-shaped Welsh slates arranged in bands of two colors. The chapel has a three-bay plan and includes a west tower, showcasing a High Victorian Gothic style. The entrance features double plank doors with ornamental wrought iron hinges, leading to a two-centred arched doorway on the right, which is framed by a gabled porch with a two-centred archway and a hood mould with carved end stops. To the left, there is a trefoil-topped lancet window. The tower is two stages high and has a stunted spire at the right corner. The windows feature geometrical tracery and are complemented by central buttresses at the ends. The interior has not been inspected. This chapel is part of a very good cemetery complex.
