Description
Church Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, that likely dates from the early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and features an old plain tile roof with brick stacks. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys high. The symmetrical front has three windows and is adorned with rendered brick storey bands and a deep plaster eaves cove. The central door is framed by the remains of a wooden porch supported by Doric columns, and above it is a 12-pane sash window. On the ground and first floors, there are tripartite sashes, some of which are likely 19th-century replacements. The second floor features five 2-light small-pane casements. The hipped roof has four parallel ridges, while the sides and rear of the building are quite plain, except for several blocked or blind windows in the return wall to the left. Inside, there is a very thick spine wall, which likely contains former flues, an 18th-century staircase with turned balusters that rises to the second floor, and a vaulted cellar. The original design featured a five-window front, which was altered in the late 18th century.
