Description

This is a house located at 42 Thame Road, likely built in the early 17th century and altered in the 18th century and later. It is constructed from limestone rubble with some brick dressings and has an old plain tile roof with brick stacks. The building is designed in an L-plan and has two storeys plus attics. The front features two windows and a flush four-panel door with a small hood, positioned to the extreme right within an adjoining structure. The left bay projects under a hipped roof, which has 19th-century brick quoins at the outer angle and a segmental arched three-light casement. The right bay contains a four-pane sash window under a stone flat arch. On the first floor, there are three-light casements, with the left one likely originally being a two-light window. The return wall to the left has been altered with brick dressings and features one gabled dormer. At the rear of the main range, there is a large stone stack. The rear wing, which returns to the left, consists of two builds, both probably from the 18th century.

Inside, the entrance leads to a through passage that is now part of a room. There are remains of a timber-framed structure, including floors, partitions, and one jowled post. The roof has clasped purlins and straight windbraces. The front range features a large open fireplace, while the rear wing contains a pine-panelled room.
