Description
The Stables is a building that has been converted into a house, originally constructed in the mid-18th century. It is made of coursed squared limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features an old plain-tile roof. The structure is a single range of two storeys with a symmetrical front that has seven windows. The central bay slightly projects and is topped with a triangular pediment, while plain parapets sit above the flanking bays. The central bay includes a segmental-arched doorway flanked by round-headed windows, and above this is a Venetian window with a recessed enclosing arch, along with an oculus in the pediment. Each of the three-bay sections on either side has a doorway between Venetian windows, and on the first floor, there is a round-headed sash window between three-light casements. Some old leaded lights are still present. The rear of the building features a brick dentil eaves course and has a hipped double-span roof. The interior has been reconstructed, except for the first-floor structure. This building was formerly the stables for the Manor House.
