Description
The Plough Public House is a 17th-century building with late 18th-century additions located on the north side of Abingdon Road in Clifton Hampden. It features large timber framing with painted brick infill on the ground floor and render above, likely also on timber framing. The roof is thatched with a central brick ridge stack. The building is single storey with an attic and has a two-window range. To the right, there are two plank doors beneath a 20th-century timber framed porch. To the right of center is a four-light casement window, and to the left is a 12-pane window. A swept dormer is positioned to the right. The late 18th-century addition at the rear left is constructed of painted brick and also has a thatched roof. This addition is single storey with an attic at a different level and features a tripartite unhorned sash window with glazing bars and a segmental brick head that includes a keystone. There is also a gabled dormer and a chamfered spine beam in the center of the ground floor.
