Description
This early 17th-century farmhouse is located on the north-west side of the Oxford Road in Thame. Originally known as Castle Farmhouse, it is likely built on a 4-unit lobby-entry plan. The farmhouse has a lined render finish, probably concealing timber framing, and an old plain-tile roof, with a hipped section to the left and a half-hipped section to the right. A brick ridge stack, with a 19th-century addition, is positioned centrally.
The main facade is two storeys high and has a four-window arrangement. A 19th-century painted-brick gabled porch is centrally positioned, featuring a four-panel door. The windows include a 16-pane unhorned sash to the right of the centre, a 16-pane unhorned sash to the left of the centre, a six-pane window to the right, and a three-light wood casement to the first floor left and right. Other windows are a 16-pane horned sash to the first floor left of centre, a 16-pane unhorned sash to the right of the centre, and a single-pane window to the centre. The rear of the farmhouse features a timber-framed cross-wing on the right side, and a single-storey extension, possibly a former animal house, is attached to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
