Description
This is a barn, with attached sheltersheds and an engine house, located approximately 15 meters south of number 84, Crowmarsh Battle Farmhouse. It likely dates from the mid-18th century but has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The structure features a rendered base and large timber framing, with 20 bays in the main barn and a 4-bay wing on the right side. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has hipped midstreys, each with double plank doors. The roof is hipped to the right, and there is a hipped midstrey on the right return, also with double plank doors. The principal roof is curved and includes some windbraces, although most of the common rafters have been replaced. On the left return, there are subsidiary shelter sheds with some blocked openings. There is also a former 19th-century engine house attached to the shelter sheds. This barn is part of a good group of farm buildings.
