Description
The barn and coach house at Milton Lodge and Wyverns date from the early 18th century and are constructed of limestone rubble with ashlar dressings, topped with old plain-tile roofs. The barn features five bays and has a central porch with a weatherboarded gable, along with a subsidiary entrance in the right return wall. At the rear of the barn is an L-shaped range that includes stables and a coach house, which originally had three elliptical-arched carriage entrances that are now blocked. There is also a fielded-panel door beneath a stone flat arch with a keyblock. The roof of this structure has three gabled dormers. Inside the stable, there are remains of stalls, although the interior of the barn has not been inspected. Additionally, a rubble wall with brick coping extends from the coach house to the front of Milton Lodge, featuring both vehicular and pedestrian gates, each supported by ashlar piers with flat caps.
