Description

The building comprises two houses, originally one house, located on Aston Street, Aston Tirrold. It likely dates from the early 17th century, with an 19th-century extension added to the right and a 20th-century rebuild on the left. The construction is primarily large timber framing with rendered infill to the centre, with a false timber frame using rendered infill to the left and 19th-century red brick to the right. The roof is thatched, featuring a brick end stack to the left and ridge stacks to the right of centre. The building was probably originally a hall house. It is two stories high with a six-window front. There are plank doors located to the left and right of centre, and the windows are irregularly placed, mostly consisting of two-light casements. The interior of No. 1 includes a winder stair. No. 2 contains an open fireplace with a domed bread-oven on the ground floor to the left, and there is some lath and plaster infill to the rear. A Queen-post roof with wind-braces can be found at the centre.
