Description
Nos. 35 and 36 High Street is a house and shop that consists of one building. It is believed to have been constructed before 1600 and was refronted in the late 18th century. The building has a four-storey stuccoed modern front that is supported by timber framing, featuring a moulded eaves cornice and a deep moulded parapet. There are two splayed bay windows that extend up to the four storeys, along with 18th-century style sash windows and a double shop front in the same style. The interior has been extensively modernised. Historical records of leases and tenants from 1552 to 1863 can be found in the Oxford Historic Society publication. All the listed buildings on the north side of the street form a group.
