Description
No 8, New College Lane is a house that dates back to 1795, although it may have been built earlier. It is a three-storey structure made of red brick with cellars. The building features a moulded stone cornice, bands at both floors, and a renewed red brick parapet. There are five sash windows with glazing bars, stone keystones, gauged brick architraves, and stone cills. The stone doorway is topped with a stone scroll bracketed hood. On the east side, there is a modern two-storey splayed bay that has been stuccoed. Inside, the house is said to contain some 18th-century fittings. The roof is not visible from the street, and there were internal alterations made in 1958. No 5, New College Rooms, and Nos 6 to 8 form a group with this building.
