Description
4 and 6 St Michael's Street are houses with modern shops, dating from the 16th to 17th century, with a 17th-century wing on the north side. The building is much altered and is two stories high, constructed of rubble, brick, and timber framing, with cellars and a Welsh slate roof. There is a central red brick chimney stack. The ground floor features shop fronts. Number 4 has a first floor that has been rebuilt in red brick, featuring a double sash window set in a stone frame. Above this, there is a large gable with modern bargeboards and a 2-light sash window. Number 6 has a first floor that is stuccoed and painted, with a new bow window that has a casement light in a wooden frame. Above it is a large sash window similar to that of Number 4. The interior includes some exposed timber framing, and major alterations were made in 1971. Numbers 4 to 10 (even) form a group.
