Description

Campion Hall, also known as Micklen Hall, is a private hall located on Brewer Street in Oxford. It dates from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with later alterations and a wing added between 1934 and 1936, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. The building features three storeys of Clipsham ashlar on a semi-basement and includes a chapel. The west range on the north retains much of a three-storeyed plastered rubble house, which has a modern tile-hung gable and an attic. A projecting stone stack with a modern brick shaft is located on the north-west side, while the west side is cement-faced. The hall has modern sash windows and a 18th-century Doric-style doorway with engaged columns.

Inside, there is 18th-century panelling, a fireplace, and a plaster frieze. The modern buildings, constructed in 1935, are made of coursed rubble, partly rendered, with a red tile roof and stone stacks. They have three storeys and an attic, featuring two, three, and four-light mullioned windows with leaded lattices and gabled roofs. A south-west extension was built in 1957-1958.
