Description
The gazebo, located approximately 50 meters north of Souldern House, dates from 1706, as indicated by its datestone RG/1706. It is constructed of squared, coursed limestone and features a hipped stone slate roof laid in diminishing courses, along with brick stacks. The building has a square plan and stands two stories tall. The ground floor is open, with round-headed archway openings, one of which is partly made of brick. On the first floor, there are sash windows on each elevation that include glazing bars and a flush wood frame. Exterior stone steps lead to the first floor, which has a plank door set in a moulded wood frame. Inside, there is a small cast-iron grate in the corner and box seats. The datestone refers to R. Gough.
