Description
This granary and dovecote, dating from the 16th century, features close-studded timber-framing and roughcast walls. It has a hipped stone slate roof laid to diminishing courses and a rectangular plan, standing three storeys tall. The ground floor is elevated on rendered brick and supported by staddle stones. Access is through an entrance in the gable end, reached by a short ladder, with a heavy wood frame plank door. There are two shuttered windows on both the ground and first floors at the front and rear elevations, along with a loft door on the first floor. The first-floor jetties have moulded wood overhangs supported by corner posts. The roof includes a renewed hipped lantern, and the roughcast upper storey features rectangular openings. The building measures approximately 25 feet 4 inches by 17 feet 7 inches and has nesting boxes on the third storey.
