Description
Kiln Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that was refronted in the late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with wooden lintels and features an old plain-tile roof with brick gable stacks. The building has a two-unit plan with a rear wing and stands two storeys high. The symmetrical front has three windows, with a central panelled door beneath a flat canopy supported by shaped brackets. Above the door is a 12-pane sash window, and the outer bays feature tripartite sashes on both floors. The gables are adorned with stone parapets and moulded projecting kneelers. At the rear, there is a stair projection. Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to have a good late 17th-century oak open-well stair with two flights, turned balusters, a moulded handrail, and ball finials.
