Description
Lock Cottage at Bourton Lock is a mid-19th century building located on the Oxford Canal. It is constructed of red brick and features a slate roof with brick end stacks. The cottage has a two-unit plan, is two storeys high, and has a three-window range. The entrance, located to the right, consists of a plank door with a wood lintel and a gabled hood above. This entrance is flanked by single light windows that have shutters. On the first floor, there are three 2-light casement windows with small panes, all set beneath brick flat arches. A brick flat band runs along the first floor, and there is a brick dentilled eaves cornice. The stretch of the Oxford Canal from Coventry to Banbury was completed by 1778.
