Description
This barn, possibly a tithe barn, dates from the 14th or 15th century and is located approximately 50 meters south of Manor Farmhouse. It is constructed from limestone rubble and has a corrugated iron roof, featuring a 10-bay plan. The walls include a deeply projecting plinth with a weathered offset. The front of the barn has full-height entrances in bays 3 and 6, along with two windows and a small doorway to the right, which were likely added later. The right end wall has been rebuilt, and the roof has been lowered over the end bay. The rear of the barn has lower opposed doors.
Inside, the trusses have heavy tie beams with arched braces that spring from short posts, each carved with broach stops where they rest on stone corbels. The principal rafters, which include collars and raking struts, are likely from the 17th century and support through purlins. Five trusses are complete with both arched braces; one truss has only one brace, two have lost both braces, and one tie beam is probably from the 17th century.
