Description
This chest tomb, located approximately 2 meters east of the chancel of the Church of St. Michael, dates from the early 19th century and is made of limestone. It features a moulded plinth and cornice in a Gothic style, decorated with quatrefoils, sunk trefoiled pilasters, and a frieze. The tomb has a hipped top with a ball finial. It commemorates John Bristow, who completed twelve voyages to the East Indies and lived for twelve years at Diamond Harbour in Bengal, before passing away in Woodstock on May 14, 1838.
