Description
The Old Workshops is a cottage with an attached barn, now functioning as one house. It dates from the late 17th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of regular coursed ironstone rubble and squared coursed ironstone, which is finely jointed. It features a steeply pitched thatched roof with stone coping on the right gable, adorned with finials.
The entrance consists of a plank door set within a moulded wood frame and wood lintel. To the left of the entrance, there is a renewed three-light wood casement window, and on the far left, a three-light metal casement window within a wood frame. The former barn on the right side has a three-light 20th-century casement window with a wood lintel. The attic of the cottage includes a two-light metal casement window with a wood lintel and a two-light Yorkshire sliding sash window. Two of the windows are fitted with wrought-iron casement fasteners, and all windows have wood lintels. The barn features a ventilation slit, and the right gable has a blind pointed window. The interior has not been inspected.
