Description

The Forest is a late 16th-century house, originally a farmhouse, located on Nineveh Lane, Benenden. It is a timber-framed building with plaster infill set on a sandstone plinth. The framing is arranged in square panels. The roof is a half-hipped design covered with modern tiles, featuring a late 16th-century ribbed brick chimneystack at the centre. An outshut adjoins the rear of the house. The building is two storeys high with attics in the gable end, and has three windows. The windows are 20th-century casements. A central doorcase is topped with a flat hood supported by brackets. The interior remains unexamined. The house was refenestrated in the 20th century.
