Description
Nos 5 to 11 on Langton Road is a 16th-century timber-framed house that has been altered and enlarged, with 19th-century additions at the east end. The original part of the building has two storeys and an attic, featuring a plastered front that mimics timbering on a stone base, and it has two windows. The west side is constructed of brick and tiles, and there is one dormer and a gable with an attic window. The gable overhangs, but the protruding ends of the floor joints that support it are modern. A contemporary brick chimney-breast is present. The 19th-century additions on the east end include a two-storey section made of red brick with two tiled gables and two 19th-century windows that have verticals only. To the left is another mid-19th-century section, also two storeys high. The ground floor of the front elevation is painted brick with tile hanging above, and the gable is partly stuccoed with timber-framing above, featuring carved bargeboards. The side elevation is tile hung. Nos 1 to 11 on Langton Road form a group.
