Description
The Woodcock Public House is a Grade II listed building located on Woodcock Lane in Benenden. Originally a cobbler's premises, it dates from 1621 but was mainly constructed in 1798 when it became an alehouse. The building has undergone 20th-century alterations and features a single-storey extension at the rear. It is weatherboarded with an old tiled roof and brick chimneystacks. The structure consists of two parallel ranges, stands two storeys tall, and has three windows. The end elevation includes casement windows and a simple doorcase. At the rear, there is a catslide roof. Inside, there is 18th-century framing, but there is likely a large brick open fireplace from the 17th century, which includes two salt niches and a wooden bressumer with run-out stops.
