II

House. Circa 1700 with late C19 and C20 rear additions. Framed construction, the ground floor roughcast, the first floor tile-hung; peg-tile roof; brick stacks.

Plan: North facing. The house was formerly 2 cottages and may have been built as 2. Main block L-plan, the right hand (west) end roofed on an east west axis with a crosswing at the left (east) end, each room heated by end stacks. To the rear there is a second, probably later block also roofed on an east west axis and the crosswing has been extended to the rear in the C19.

Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 3-window front, the roof half-hipped to the front at the left and half-hipped at the right end. Large projecting end stacks with tile-hang batters. 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-light timber casement windows, probably C19, with glazing bars. Present entrance on left return through a C20 conservatory.

Interior: Exposed carpentry with runout stops to the main beams. The right hand fireplace has an original lintel. The left hand fireplace has a large square projecting bread oven. Wall-framing with jowled wall posts.
