Description

This building is a threshing barn with adjoining cartsheds, dating from the 18th century or early 19th century. It features timber framing on red brick footings, with the framing covered in weatherboards. The main barn has a slate roof, while the outshots and cartsheds have peg-tile roofs.

The barn faces south towards Postern Park Farmhouse. It has opposing large double doorways at the center that open onto the threshing floor. The front and back roofs extend over integral outshots, with a full-height porch at the front doorway that is flush with the outshots. The rear doorway is currently blocked, and the rear has continuous outshots. To the right, there is a low open-fronted cartshed range that projects from the barn.

The exterior features a plain weatherboarded facade, with large plank double doors at the front doorway. The porch has a hipped tile roof and rises from the outshots. The main roof is taller and half-hipped at both ends, with the roof extending continuously over the outshots. The low cartshed range to the right is open-fronted, consisting of five bays divided by plain posts with straight arch-braces, and it has a gable-ended roof.

Inside, the barn displays plain carpentry across five bays. Each bay includes a middle rail, and the upper tier has straight arch braces. The main posts have jowled heads, and the tie-beams are supported by straight arch braces. Above, raking struts clasp the purlins.
