Description
Hope Mill House is a mill house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with later cladding and extensions from the late 19th century. The building features a timber frame, with red brick cladding on the ground floor and tile hanging on the first floor, topped by a plain tiled roof.
The entrance front has two storeys, with a 19th-century wing that projects to the left, featuring a gabled central portion. This wing includes two sash windows on the first floor, one sash window to the left on the ground floor, and a boarded door to the right, which is sheltered by a raking hood. The main range projects to the right and has a half-hipped roof with a stack located at the centre left. It features two mullioned and transomed windows, with three lights on the upper floor and two lights on the ground floor.
On the garden front, there are mullioned and transomed windows on each floor, a hipped dormer, and a hipped projecting wing. This range was originally designed as a lobby-entry with a four-bay plan.
