Description

The Jonathan Monckton chest tomb, located about 4 meters south of the priests' door in the south wall of the chancel of the Church of All Saints, is a mid-19th century structure made of freestone. It features a rectangular shape with a moulded plinth and an oversailing lid. The tomb is adorned with large engaged corner shafts that have moulded capitals and bases. An inscription panel commemorates Jonathan Monckton, who died in 1853, along with other family members. This chest tomb also marks the entrance to a family vault.
