Description

The Larkin headstone, dated 1769, is located approximately 9 meters south of the chancel of the Church of St Thomas A Becket. This headstone commemorates Thomas Larkin and his wife. It is an upright sandstone slab that stands about 1 meter high and features a double shaped head. The left side of the head is inscribed with an hourglass, although the representation on the right side has worn off. The inscription is in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, divided into two columns above a prayer. The left column notes the death of Mrs. Larkin (her first name is illegible) in 1748, while the right column records the death of her husband Thomas in 1769.
