Description

Ashfield Cottages are a pair of houses, originally built in the 18th century and later used as cottages. They are located on the south side of Delmonden Lane in Hawkhurst. The ground floor is built of red brick, while the first floor is weatherboarded, topped with a plan tiled roof. The cottages have a lobby-entry plan. They are two storeys high with an attic, featuring a half-hipped roof with gablets and a large, central stack cluster with moulded and filleted detailing. The first floor has two three-light casement windows and one central two-light casement. The ground floor has three-light casements, with a central boarded door featuring a pediment-shaped hood. A boarded door is located on the right return. Casement windows are present on the return elevations, and there is a single-storey wing extending to the rear left.
