5/230 Pair of Kipping headstones approx 2.5m east of the vestry of the Church of St Thomas A Becket GV II

Pair of headstones. Both date from the 1680s and commemorate members of the Kipping family. Both are upright slabs of sandstone standing approx 350-400mm high. Both have shaped heads with plain projecting surrounds. The heads are each carved with an hourglass and the inscriptions are in Roman serif capitals. The left (northern) one records the death of William Kipping in 1681 and the right one records the death of Thomas Kipping in 1685.
