Description

This is a pair of Kipping headstones located approximately 2.5 meters east of the vestry of the Church of St Thomas A Becket. Both headstones date from the 1680s and commemorate members of the Kipping family. They are upright slabs made of sandstone, standing about 350-400 millimeters high. Each headstone has a shaped top with a plain projecting surround. The tops are carved with an hourglass, and the inscriptions are in Roman serif capitals. The left headstone records the death of William Kipping in 1681, while the right headstone records the death of Thomas Kipping in 1685.
