Description

This is a headstone for Elizabeth Fuggle, located about 9 meters south-west of the tower of the Church of All Saints in Brenchley. It dates from the late 18th century and is made of freestone. The headstone features a Rococo style with a scrolled top and intricate carved decorations surrounding an oval inscription panel, which includes festoons and foliage. The inscription commemorates Elizabeth Fuggle, who died in 1790 at the age of 19. There is also a presumably contemporary slab in front of the headstone, which has rounded corners. This headstone is noted for its unusual elegance and is situated in an outstanding churchyard.
