Description
This is a pair of headstones located approximately 10 meters south of the chancel of the Church of St Martin. They date from the mid-18th century and commemorate members of the Salmon family. Both headstones are upright sandstone slabs, standing about 450 millimeters tall, with shaped heads that feature carvings of winged cherubs' heads and inscriptions in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering. The headstone on the left records the death of Edward Salmon in 1767, while the right one, which is cruder in character, commemorates the death of Ann Saman (sic) in 1757.
