Description

The Bailey Tomb, located 10 yards northeast of the Church of St Peter, is a heraldic tomb built in 1869 by William Burges for the Bailey family. It features a vault beneath and is constructed from Portland stone. The sarcophagus has hipped ridge coping and is adorned with a stencilled band that displays the arms of the Bailey family from Ightham Place and the James family from Ightham Court. The tomb stands on bracketed runners within a wide plinth surround.
